Do you lead a multidisciplinary team who support those living with dementia? Do you want to better understand the challenges of Alzheimer\u2019s and how it can affect a someone? Do you want to learn ways you can better care for someone with the disease?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"yui_3_17_2_1_1648570616979_1250\">Advanced Gerontological Education\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA)&nbsp;<\/em>workshop, delivered by SafeCare BC, is designed for all point-of-care staff across the healthcare sector. The session is evidence-based, interactive, and practical. This one-day course will give you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An introduction to dementia and person-centred care<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An overview of the relationship between the disease process and a person\u2019s behavioral response<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The tools necessary to apply emotional, environmental, and interpersonal communication strategies to prevent and diffuse responsive behaviors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Suitable and respectful protective techniques to use in situations of risk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The curriculum is delivered by&nbsp;<em>GPA<\/em>&nbsp;certified coaches who have up to date credentials to maintain this certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>GPA<\/em>&nbsp;is designed for staff and students of all disciplines working with seniors. To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Potential or current job role includes interaction with persons with dementia, or proof of registration for course completion in a health\u2013related field<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>18 years of age or older<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To learn how you can better understand&nbsp;the effects of&nbsp;dementia&nbsp;to&nbsp;improve the quality of care you provide, then&nbsp;register&nbsp;for the&nbsp;<em>G<\/em><em>entle&nbsp;<\/em><em>P<\/em><em>ersuasive&nbsp;<\/em><em>Approaches<\/em>&nbsp;workshop today!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Are you caring for someone living with dementia?
