Specifically, it allows organizations to train their own in-house educators, called Peer Facilitators, who train and support their colleagues in the following areas of health and safety:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Provincial Violence Prevention Curriculum<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gentle Persuasive Approaches in Dementia Care<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Safety Leadership Education<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Safe Resident Handling or Safe Client Handling<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What are the benefits?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Organizations<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Get an in-house expert.<\/strong>&nbsp;You\u2019ll have someone to provide regular, relevant, and timely support to all your staff.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Save money.<\/strong>&nbsp;Instead of paying for each of your staff to attend a health and safety workshop, pay for one to become a Peer Facilitator, who can then train everyone.&nbsp;<a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/peercoach-05022019FINAL.pdf\">See how much money you could save.<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Get more flexibility.<\/strong>&nbsp;It\u2019s difficult to send staff to an all-day off-site workshop. With your Peer Facilitator, you can train staff&nbsp;<em>when<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>where<\/em>&nbsp;you want.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Individuals<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Expand your skill set.<\/strong>&nbsp;Becoming a Peer Facilitator is an excellent opportunity for personal and professional growth. You\u2019ll increase your knowledge and gain valuable facilitation skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Make an even bigger impact.<\/strong>&nbsp;Directly improve the health and safety of your colleagues in the sector.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Am I eligible?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Peer Facilitator Program is open to the following individuals:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Those in a SafeCare BC member organization.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Those in a SafeCare BC associate member organization.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Non-members who work in continuing care.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Members have the WorkSafeBC Classification Unit 766011 or 766006.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/scbcdev.safecarebc.ca\/membership\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"845\">Associate members<\/a>&nbsp;are service providers or education institutions who\u2019ve purchased a membership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How do I become a Peer Facilitator?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Step 1:&nbsp;<\/strong>An individual is interested in becoming a Peer Facilitator.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Step 2:&nbsp;<\/strong>The individual and their organization both agree that the individual can become a Peer Facilitator (if relevant).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Step 3:&nbsp;<\/strong>The individual checks the&nbsp;<a href=\"\/events\">training calendar<\/a>&nbsp;and applies for a train-the-trainer workshop.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Step 4:&nbsp;<\/strong>The individual completes the train-the-trainer workshop.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Step 5:&nbsp;<\/strong>The individual goes through Mentorship with a Master Facilitator, receiving the support they need to deliver education effectively.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Step 6:&nbsp;<\/strong>After successfully passing Mentorship, the individual becomes a certified Peer Facilitator. They can now train and support others in their organization.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Are there other opportunities?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Secondment Program<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Secondment is a formal arrangement between SafeCare BC, a Peer Facilitator, and the Peer Facilitator\u2019s organization. Under the Secondment Agreement, Peer Facilitators facilitate at least three workshops for SafeCare BC over a year. In return, SafeCare BC will pay the backfill replacement wages to the organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To become a Seconded Facilitator, you must:<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Currently work for a SafeCare BC member site;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have completed Peer Facilitator training and Mentorship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-white-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/scbcdev.safecarebc.ca\/service\/peer-facilitator-program\/application\/\" style=\"border-radius:15px\">Learn more and apply \u203a<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Independent Contracted Facilitators<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Independent Contracted Facilitators are paid to deliver training on behalf of SafeCare BC.
