{"id":3112,"date":"2023-10-12T09:59:00","date_gmt":"2023-10-12T16:59:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/safecarebc.ca\/?p=3112"},"modified":"2024-01-11T10:07:31","modified_gmt":"2024-01-11T18:07:31","slug":"have-your-voice-heard-worksafebc-policy-amendment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scbcdev.safecarebc.ca\/?p=3112","title":{"rendered":"Have your voice heard \u2013 WorkSafeBC policy amendment"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a growing number of workers reporting physical and psychological threats or actions, <a href=\"https:\/\/4ct0f.r.a.d.sendibm1.com\/mk\/cl\/f\/sh\/1t6Af4OiGsHMDzDyyYtmmIg5sJH1CU\/7N35Sx7pjUZi\">WorkSafeBC is proposing changes <\/a>to the harassment and violence policy\u2014<strong>and they want your feedback.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The proposed changes\u2014<strong>which will affect your violence prevention program<\/strong>\u2014seek to create a single comprehensive framework in the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation. This will include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A single definition for behavioural hazards (harassment and violence), for workplace and non-workplace parties, including behaviour that harmfully targets an individual\u2019s personal characteristics, such as race or gender.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The requirement of a risk assessment for any potential harassment and violence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A written harassment and violence prevention program for all employers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The removal of the \u201cadvice to consult a physician\u201d section in the original policy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Allowing employers to resolve incidents without an investigation where the source of the harassment or violence is internal to the organization (such as a co-worker).<em> If the source is external, investigations are required.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is your chance to have an impact on regulations that impact your work.
