The 2016 injury rate, recently released by WorkSafeBC, was 8.5, down slightly from 8.9 the previous year. What\u2019s especially encouraging is that five years ago, the rate was close to 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is very positive news and a testament to the commitment and hard work of everyone working in long-term care,\u201d says Jennifer Lyle, executive director of SafeCare BC. \u201cOur collective challenge will continue to decrease injury rates even more so our members can go to work and return home safely to their families at the end of each day.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bjy6af.p3cdn1.secureserver.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016-LTC-injury-rate.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bjy6af.p3cdn1.secureserver.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/2016-LTC-injury-rate-300x199.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6345\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the decrease in injury rates, long-term care workers are still injured four times more than the average for all workers in the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As your health and safety association, we are here as your resource.
