For the second year in a row, our members outperformed the sector overall. This is good news. However, the number of injury claims increased 50% and the cost of injury claims for the sector, which is a driver of WorkSafeBC premiums, increased 23% to $5.3 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While the cost to treat claims is largely out of your control, you have a lot of control over workplace health and safety and preventing injuries from happening. What can you do?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Have a robust&nbsp;return-to-work <a href=\"https:\/\/scbcdev.safecarebc.ca\/service\/peer-resource-network\/effective-return-to-work-programs\/\" data-type=\"service\" data-id=\"1173\">Effective Return to Work<\/a> program<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide health and safety education<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have frequent&nbsp;<a href=\"\/resources\/huddles\/\">safety huddles<\/a>&nbsp;with your teams<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meet often with your safety committee or worker representative<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make health and safety a regular topic of discussion with staff and leadership.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Join our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/scbcdev.safecarebc.ca\/service\/tailored-outreach-program\/\" data-type=\"service\" data-id=\"388\">Tailored Outreach Program<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Having an intentional focus on health and safety may seem daunting, but we are here to support you. We can walk you through&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.worksafebc.com\/en\/about-us\/shared-data\/interactive-tools\/employer-safety-planning-tool-kit\">WorkSafeBC\u2019s Employer Health and Safety Planning Tool Kit<\/a>, so you can understand your data. We can also provide one-on-one support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When your injury claims are lower than the sector average, you\u2019ll receive a discount on your WorkSafeBC premiums.
